Proportionate Giving What this means is that we look at our Pledge as a proportion of our income. For example, if one's annual income were $52,000 per year, this would be $1,000 income per week.
If that person were giving $20 per week to St. Anne's that would be 2% of their income.
A tithe is 10% or $100 per week of that income. So, if that person wanted to increase their pledge proportionately, they might increase it to 3% ($30 per week), or to 4% ($40 per week), etc. The purpose of viewing our pledge this way, is that it encourages the possibility of increasing that PERCENTAGE each year, so that one can easily work into tithing.
